nali nali
Last week (in chronological order)
1.Found out one of my besties from work is leaving for a much better job and never to be seen again-literally cried for days
2. Officially found out I was going to China in January for work (don't fret people I will be gone for a week)
3. Started up my chinese lessons again-this time classroom style. I learn better when I am competing amongst strangers
4. Swish swish-had sprinkles on top of my green tea ice cream; something horribly wrong but kind of right with that combination.
5. Celebrated birthday dinner with the boyfriend at Mochica and was confronted by the host if I had a bloomspot or groupon . I almost wanted to say yes-and pondered what the deal could possibly be but 30 seconds later recoiled at how de classe I have become.
"nali, nali"-this phrase encapsulates how Chinese people are raised, instead of saying "thank you" after someone compliments you; it is more customary for the Chinese to say "nali, nali"-not really but thank you. Sometimes it takes a Chinese class to teach this Chinese person about her culture and why I can't ever take a compliment seriously.

face facts
I truly believe people with the best style are those who also embrace themselves for who they are and who they are not. I think that the same outfit on the two girls who look pretty much the same can also look entirely different based on their attitude and personality. Alexa Chung unabashedly admitted she just dresses "like every other hipster"-yes that may be so but she sure carries herself differently.

scraps
i am my biggest fan and harshest critic. I know so contradictory but actually very true. I am happy with myself but I know there are so many things to improve-but in the end of the day I can still go to sleep on my organic sheets sans satin pillow thinking "everything is ok, I am ok"

How to love
See you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart
Never really had luck, couldn’t never figure out
How to love, how to love
See you had a lot of moments that didn’t last forever
Now you in this corner tryna put it together
How to love, how to love
Nothing wrong with some Ligurian coast. I am in love! I can't wait to go back.

wind tunnel fan
In my other residence which has all the convenience of a hotel minus the maid and the turn down service I also encounter GIANTS madness. GIANTS madness consists of men, women, children, bums, hustlers, and perhaps other unsavory folks all sporting proudly the black and orange and appearing knowledgeable on every Linceum stat possible-how wrong was I in this assumption. Weaving through the throngs of people who consume too much Giants paraphernalia while at the Walgreens near the ball park I innocently ask the elderly lady next to me in what appears to be a full on Giants warm up fit what time is the game and she looks at me blankly with "ummmm,..1 o'clock I think". So this is where I throw my hands up in the air and yell bullshit at you nor cal people who scream what big fans you are of the "San Fran Giants" even when you live in Modesto or some other godforsaken place that is near cattle.
SF is a contradictory city-we all know this and why we love living here. So long I am Off to Philz to get a single drip coffee for $4 in the Mission.

Happy February!

I love the first of the month-its like waking up early on a Saturday morning in the city. You feel as if you beat everyone else to the punch.
this month I will be traveling to mas snow endowed parts of the country and I am really confused what to wear-do people really care about style when they can't feel their ears? should I just go and get that sleeping bag coat and those damn chocolate uggs and call it a day?
This calls for a larger plan of action-stay tuned.

shorty

why do we all want what we cannot have? Currently crushing on long dresses-simple and flattering at the same time-added bonus shoes do not matter.
can long dresses look as good on short people? I am not saying as "good" as the assembles Jennifer Williams "sports" on Basketball Wives but at least acceptable for the public.
What are the 5'4's to do?

Christmas Yves

Some glamor and a little luck never hurt anyone. I recently received YSL's iconic arty oval ring in turquoise and the Lucky Chyc ring from a special someone and I never want to take either of them off. I love how they are both strong and delicate looking at the same time.
