So i had this velvet phase in jr high. I loved all things velvet and it came in many forms-mostly tanktops. Al-please refrain from calling me the W word.

animals

Lately I been channeling to decorate my new apartment with animals galore. I believe it was spurred from my brilliant house warming gift-a paper mache giraffe head courtesy of my dear friend shirliu.

Long story short I want this now.

functional and timeless, who would not want a gold plated rhino?

Or how about a bird bed? I should change the name of this blog to lover of all things irrelevant.

Laters

Though I understand that not all change is bad, it still feels like the wind is knocked out you whenever it does happen. SF never felt so lonely.

City of Angels

Reeling back back from a luscious vacation in Los Angeles I brought back with me a new found appreciation for my hometown. Though I have to admit I felt like I was cheating on San Francisco. However, I do have to say I loved the laid back cool California style "SO KITSON" that resonated from the many many beautiful people I spotted hitting up LA's trendiest spots. I am in love...I can't get enough.

"I've been cheating on fashion with furniture"

I really want to believe that if I was not procuring tons of new furniture the next few weeks I would be buying these babies.

Dior high heel clogs- they are sooo ugly they are beautiful right?

Mahalo to my job

Hawaii is one of my favourite destinations in the world. I see the ocean and I instantly become more laid back. I am not sure if it is the constant 75 degree weather or the clear blue/green waters but I always want to go back. 3x these past 8 months (Aug '09, Feb'10, May'10.)

sometimes we make mistakes

Johnathan Heiliger, VP of Technological Operations at Facebook came to my work last week to talk about well Facebook and to plug how our company could be using their services better. Well I am experienced in both listening to engineers drone on and on about how much better PHP is than any other code or politely nodding to long talks about silicon based products-I never will understand or need to ever explain how it works to anyone else.
What I am excited about is to learn about technology and how much it changes how people live and interact with one another. Facebook is a great example of how social interaction has changed. In fact Though I am advocate for social media and technology improving our lives I sometimes think about how much is lost through all the text. Well what I learned that day from Johnathan is that Facebook does everything quick-fast. They operate with small teams and their engineers still have the freedom to undertake cool projects with very little process and red-tape ie the video function on facebook was based on a single much caffeine induced night. Its very cool to think that one all nighter will result in a function that will enrich over 400M users. The next big take away from this talk was the fact that Johnathan also mentioned that Facebook makes mistakes and is not perfect. The catch-22 behind creating products at such a rapid pace for millions to consume is that the product itself may not be the best version.
So I ask what is the perfect medium? To be the best you have to sometimes make mistakes. Oh how I wish I could forgive others the way I forgive Facebook for not being up at 2pm for my work pick-me-up.

weddings

I have been shockingly obsessed with looking at wedding pictures.

Something about how happy and genuine some photos look make me feel a certain way. Perhaps thats why I like sappy music groups-ie Train.

Long lost books

something about library books that make it way more interesting than buying it on-line. I love the worn binding of a well read hardback-a signifier of a definite good read.

remember those days where you had to rifle through the card catalog file to find your book?
I would love one to hold my jewelry.

Out of the clouds

I do not much like being sick. It seems like such a waste of time.
However, this week I did get to catch up on many hours of movies and trashy tv watching that I feel I certainly have had my fill to save me fresh and ready to face the weekend.

Here is to the weekend and the sun peeking out of the clouds.

In Jean-Jacques Annaud The Lover Jane March plays a loner in a lonely land aka Saigon.

So far here are my top fedora finds

Loves

A woman can have many loves in her life. One day I love love the YSL lizard Muse reptile finish suede bag in stone and the next I do not even bother to look at it when I see it slumped lifelessly next to a haggard looking Marc Jacobs bag inside Jeremy's.

Oh how we fall out of love so quickly.

Right now I am eyeing these nude Christian Louboutin Simple Patent Pumps. They are classic and would give my Spring a jump start. I better be going places if I get these.
