sometimes we make mistakes

Johnathan Heiliger, VP of Technological Operations at Facebook came to my work last week to talk about well Facebook and to plug how our company could be using their services better. Well I am experienced in both listening to engineers drone on and on about how much better PHP is than any other code or politely nodding to long talks about silicon based products-I never will understand or need to ever explain how it works to anyone else.
What I am excited about is to learn about technology and how much it changes how people live and interact with one another. Facebook is a great example of how social interaction has changed. In fact Though I am advocate for social media and technology improving our lives I sometimes think about how much is lost through all the text. Well what I learned that day from Johnathan is that Facebook does everything quick-fast. They operate with small teams and their engineers still have the freedom to undertake cool projects with very little process and red-tape ie the video function on facebook was based on a single much caffeine induced night. Its very cool to think that one all nighter will result in a function that will enrich over 400M users. The next big take away from this talk was the fact that Johnathan also mentioned that Facebook makes mistakes and is not perfect. The catch-22 behind creating products at such a rapid pace for millions to consume is that the product itself may not be the best version.
So I ask what is the perfect medium? To be the best you have to sometimes make mistakes. Oh how I wish I could forgive others the way I forgive Facebook for not being up at 2pm for my work pick-me-up.

sometimes a little color will go a long way

Essie and JCREW teaming up. Nothing says perfection like two of the most innovative brands collaborating.

weddings

I have been shockingly obsessed with looking at wedding pictures.

Something about how happy and genuine some photos look make me feel a certain way. Perhaps thats why I like sappy music groups-ie Train.
